Most if not all of them use an existing breed as a base. So, a hexed breed has been modified by a user to change its looks or behavior around. Basically, sets of numbers that indicate where parts of the petz go and what color they are. I believe it’s called “hexed” or “hexies” because they had to modify hexadecimal code, at least until other tools or guides were created to help each other. Most of the content created by the community were “hexed” breedz, petz, or itemz. ![]() I don’t think modding communities were incredibly common at the time? This is all to the best of my knowledge since I was never solidly in the hexing arena myself.īasically, the Petz games built up a modding community that still exists in some corners of the Internet. ![]() It’s not at all obvious just from the game itself.
